Taking Your Dog to the Beach Etiquette

When the Summer heat is at its peak and the mood is just right for a time well-spent in the outdoors, spending a fun day by taking your dog to the beach sounds like the perfect time. Dogs can have a lot of fun swimming in the refreshing water, running on the sands and in its most basic form, just spending time with you. However, the ideal day could pretty much turn sour if your dog is not well prepared for a beach trip.

Having the right beach etiquette course provides your dog with the needed knowledge and training to enjoy the day with no hassles!

Walking off-Leash

It is understandable that you would like to keep your dog off leash to enjoy his space and freedom, but being put in a new environment could trigger your furry friend to behave in a chaotically, causing them to disturb other people, run into the water unsupervised, and not obey given commands. Providing the right training to help the dog deal with distractions of his new surroundings while having the liberty to move as he pleases is essential for a day well-spent.

Here Command

If your dog is wandering off, chasing balls, and running kids, they could be losing some concentration and putting themselves in hazardous situations. Being able to call them back whenever it is necessary is detrimental for their well-being.

Stay Command

While your dog might be having his best time, he may not notice that its body is overheating. A simple stay command can get them to stay put under the umbrella for a while to give them time to rest, drink fresh water from a bowl as the salty water makes him thirsty, and catch their breath as he braces himself for the next round of fun.

Swimming

What’s a day at the beach if you don’t cool off from the boiling sun by plunging into the cool salty sea water, and it’s the same for your dog! Teaching your dog the basics of swimming before going to the beach will make their trip, and yours, much more enjoyable and refreshing.

Retrieve and Bring

Combining relaxation at the beach with fun games makes your day much more enjoyable, for you and your furry companion. Training him to retrieve a ball or any other object for a game of catch will create more experiences for your dog on this special day out would only strengthen your bond and brighten your day even more.

  1. Provide him with a lot of water.

  3. Take your dog for a walk away from the beach to relieve himself every two hours.
  4. Bring plastic bags with you to pick up after your dog if an accident happens, and most importantly do not bury the droppings in the sand as kids tend to play in the sand.
